Reiki Resumé - Creating Promotional Material for Your Practice by IARP Member Services
There are many times when it might be useful to have a "Reiki Resumé" on hand. When? Basically whenever you are interested in promoting yourself or your business and opening up other avenues in which to practice Reiki. This could include volunteering, working at a health fair, offering your services at a hospice or hospital, working to get a job offering Reiki in a spa, chiropractor's office, or just trying to explain and legitimize Reiki a bit more. Having the following items on-hand copied and organized professionally can be very valuable and well worth the time it would take to compile.
Things you can include:
- A written description of what Reiki is. A brief description can be found on our website here at www.iarp.org , but it should also include your personal feelings as to what Reiki entails.
- A resume of any past experiences or positions that relate to Reiki, healing, or lead to your decision to work in the healing professions and previous experience or related positions.
- A listing of classes or degrees you have taken and/or certificates obtained.
- References or testimonials from prior clients.
- Copies of Reiki Research (such as the article by the Hartford Hospital that can be found in the Articles and Research Library) that show its benefits.
- Business cards (we can tell you how to get them free!).
- Brochures with a listing of the services that your business offers.
- Copies of your Certificates - Reiki, other healing modalities, IARP Membership Certificate, listing of college degrees.
- Listing of any volunteering or community service you may have done which could also include references from the facility or organization you assisted.
- Any other personal touches, specific events, happenings that you have taken part in that you feel might be viewed in a positive light by the organization or person you would be giving this to.
In preparing your package, think: "What do I want to tell someone about me or what I can offer them?" View it as a tool to help others see how you can best help them.
Once you have compiled all of the above documents you'll need to organize them so that they appear professional, a cover letter stating what your goals and objectives (obtaining a part-time position offering Reiki services at the Cancer Center of XYZ Hospital, for example) as well as referencing the items you have enclosed in your packet in an index format is a nice finishing touch. You can purchase folders to organize all this so that it will have a professional appearance and then make up several of them to have on hand so that when you find that you need one it will be available to you. Be sure to update your Information Packet from time to time as you add additional modalities, take classes to learn a new level in a modality, etc. And remember, always put your positive "foot" forward and let others know what wonderful services you have to offer! Good luck!
